Optional Application Update
date: 10 Aug 2007 | version: 1.7.2808
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
This update starts to address the issues recently created when eBay introduced the "Security Measures" page - a page that makes users enter a code contained in an image in order to see the original page they requested. When this page is shown, AuctionIntelligence obviously can not parse that page for auction information, and so in the past would report the auction incorrectly - most commonly, the high price, # of bids, and shipping would be 0. With this update, AI will no longer report those auctions incorrectly. Instead, when it encouters an items where the "Security Measures" page is shown, it will skip that item and mark it to be downloaded later (the next time the search is run). This sometimes results in AI appearing to not download all of the items that match your search criteria - that's true, but it has made a note of the items so it can download them at a later time. eBay currently appears to be showing this page "randomly" so sometimes running the search again immediately - and sometimes hours later - will allow AI to download those items correctly. We're still working on a permanent fix, but we figured for now that downloading less - but correct - data was better than more - but incorrect - data. If you disagree, please do use the support form on the web site to send us an email.

Automatic Parsing Update
date: 20 Nov 2006 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
Looks like a small change in eBay's HTML is causing AI to return incorret results for the current closing price of some auctions. This should be resolved now. If you've got auctions with incomplete inormation, please delete them in the Cleanup Results tab, and then rerun the search to download the auctions again.

Site Outage on 18 Nov
date: 19 Nov 2006 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
We apologize for the site outage that we experienced starting around 5:00pm on 18 Nov, and that lasted until approximately 1:00pm on 19 Nov. As soon as our host restored the server to working status, we immediately started restoring all of the data for the site, and everything should now be 'back to normal.' If you are still having trouble using AuctionIntelligence (getting authentication errors would be the most likely problem), please send an email to us and we'll be happy to help.

Automatic Parsing Update
date: 17 Nov 2006 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
Today we're releasing a pretty significant parsing update to address two issues: First, AI will now correctly parse bidder information on auctions that use eBay's new "Bidder X" format to protect bidder's identities. Second, we took the opportunity to significantly increase the parsing speed of AI - in most cases, parsing is now done 2-4 times faster than it was before. Have fun researching!

In-depth eBayMotors.com analysis coming soon
date: 14 Nov 2006 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
For everyone out there who's been wanting additional support for eBayMotors.com, we're almost there. We expect that within the next month or so, we will make available an AuctionIntelligence addin that will automatically download and display the following information in the Raw Search Results report:
VIN (with a link to CARFAX) Year* Mileage* Engine Size Warranty Title Condition Fuel Type Doors Interior Color Exterior Color Inspection
* already shown | | Leather Seats Cassette CD Player Convertible Anti-Lock Brakes Driver Airbag Passenger Airbag Side Airbags Air Conditioning Cruise Control Power Locks Power Windows Power Seats Sunroof
|
Naturally, this information can really help whether you are trying to purchase a single car for yourself, or analyze auto sales as a dealer looking to get top dollar for your inventory. In fact, we're confident that the additional info could more than pay for the monthly price of the addin with a single auction - that's awesome!
Of course, I'm sure everyone is interested in pricing, which we have set: for a short time while we introduce the addin, there will be an introductory rate of $49.99/month and when the introductory period is over, everyone will be able to use the addin for only $74.99/month.
We hope you're as excited as we are about this functionality. If you're interested in more info, or helping to beta test, please contact us using this form, and we'll be happy to get back to you.

Optional Application Update
date: 07 Jul 2006 | version: 1.6.2378
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
A couple of weeks ago, eBay released an update to the size of Auction Item Numbers. The size of these numbers has increased from 10 to 12 digits, and will over time increase to 19 digits. AI was already setup to handle up to 16 digits, but this update makes AI able to handle all 19 digits that will come in the future (several years from now most likely). As a nice side effect, this change should also make AI slightly faster and your database slightly smaller. Please backup your database prior to installing this update (File | Backup and Restore | Backup database...)
This update includes the following:
-
BUG: Update AuctionIntelligence to handle Item Numbers up to 19 digits.
|
 |
- Current users: you can start AuctionIntelligence and choose Help | Download Newest Version of AuctionIntelligence or you can download and install AISetup.exe.
|
| | |

| Before updating AuctionIntelligence, it is strongly advised to backup your existing database using File | Backup and Restore | Backup database. Additionally, if you already have AuctionIntelligence installed, do not install MSDE/SQL Express again, as doing so will overwrite your database. |
|
- To install this update if you do not already have AuctionIntelligence installed, download and install AISetupMSDE.exe.

FREE STUFF It's July - send referrals (and some Q&A)
date: 23 Jun 2006 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
July is upon us - as noted below, refer a new subscriber to AuctionIntelligence and we'll give you a free month of usage!
To answer a couple questions that have come up:
Q: What if I don't have an AI account already?
A: Sign up for one. Refer a friend. You'll end up with a 6 week trial instead of a 2 week trial.
Q: Can I refer more than one friend and get more than one month free?
A: Yes, you get a free month for each referral, up to 6 months.
Q: Can I refer myself?
A: No, that would be silly.
Q: Why are you doing this?
A: Word of mouth advertising is the best kind of advertising. If you like AI, we want you to tell other people that. And, we want to give you a free month for doing so.
Happy researching!

Request for large databases
date: 01 Jun 2006 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
eBay today started increasing the size of ItemNumbers throughout the site from 10 digits to 11/12 digits. This shouldn't affect AuctionIntelligence at all, but we're making some changes so that as eBay expands in the future, AI won't have to be updated in a rush.
In order to make sure this transition goes smoothly, we'd like to test it on a few large databases - if you've got a database that's over 1GB in size and wouldn't mind sharing it with us, please email us at info -at- certes.net. Or, if you'd feel more comfortable trying the conversion on your own computer (even better for us) we'll be happy to send an updated version of AuctionIntelligence to you to try. Thanks much!

A few important bug fixes and user requests, so we wanted to release an update. Most importantly, if you are experiencing 'hangs' or 'crashes' when AI is downloading auction data, it would be good for you to try this update. As always, feedback and requests are welcome.
This update includes the following:
-
HANG: AI hangs at 10% sometimes
-
CRASH: AI crashes with Exception Type: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. : at System.Windows.Forms.UnsafeNativeMethods.CallWindowProc(IntPtr
-
CRASH: if AI fails to download an XML config file, AI can crash
-
USER Request: Importing searches does not import the name of the search from the XML file (it uses the title instead)
-
USER Request: UK Searches should return all items that are listed in GBP, not just items listed in UK
-
USER Request: Download auction images addin should allow the max number of images per auction to be downloaded
-
USER Request: Add additional information to summary report - specifically "AVG Total Cost" (Avg Price + Ship + Insurance)
-
BUG: special html characters in ebay titles can cause data loss. Specifically '&' becomes '&'
-
BUG: PivotTable report has quantity misspelled.

eBay Item Details Update (eBay.com.au, eBay.co.uk)
date: 29 Mar 2006 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
eBay released the updates to the Item Page today (on eBay.com.au and eBay.co.uk), which broke AuctionIntelligence. This release should make AuctionIntelligence work correctly again on those sites. Note that US sites (eBay.com and eBayMotors.com) were not affected as they were already updated a few weeks ago (as noted below). There may still be some parsing issues - we'd ask that you be vigilent in your use of AI for the next week or two and immediately report any problems.
If you've got auctions with incomplete information, please delete them in the Cleanup Results tab, and then rerun the search to download the auctions again. (To select multiple items at a time, hold down Ctrl or Shift as you click on the items in the Cleanup Results list)
Thanks for your patience while eBay makes these changes and we adapt!

eBay Item Details Update (eBay.com.au, eBay.co.uk)
date: 29 Mar 2006 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
We've just been notified by a user that AuctionIntelligence is not correctly parsing info for eBay.co.uk and eBay.com.au. On further investigation, it looks like eBay has started the transition to the new Item Page Layout for these eBay sites, and so AI does not currently work correctly with them.
Note that not all pages use the new layout currently (it looks like about 25% use the new layout, which we expect to increase over the next 48 hours to be 100%). So, not all items will parse incorrectly but we recommend that you do NOT run AuctionIntelligence against the UK and AU sites until we release an update - which should be in the next 24 hours.
We'll be working to address this issue ASAP and will post here once we've released an update.
Thanks for your patience.

Automatic Parsing Update
date: 13 Mar 2006 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
Hot on the heels of eBay's last major update, they've tweaked things a bit so that AI was not correctly parsing winning bidder IDs and winning prices for all auctions (some auctions were working, but not all). This update should fix that problem. If you've got auctions with incomplete inormation, please delete them in the Cleanup Results tab, and then rerun the search to download the auctions again. Once again - there may still be some parsing issues as eBay makes more tweaks, so we'd ask that you be vigilent in your use of AI for the next week or two and immediately report any problems.

Automatic Parsing Update
date: 10 Mar 2006 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
Looks like eBay has completed their upgrade of the Item Details page across the entire site. As such, we've gone ahead and updated the parsing functionality of AuctionIntelligence to only work with the new format. With this change, AI performance should be 'back to normal' or even a little faster than prior to the eBay update. Once again - there may still be some parsing issues, so we'd ask that you be vigilent in your use of AI for the next week or two and immediately report any problems.

eBay Item Details Update (eBay.com, eBayMotors.com)
date: 06 Mar 2006 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
eBay released the updates to the Item Page today (on eBay.com and eBayMotors.com), which broke AuctionIntelligence. This release should make AuctionIntelligence work correctly again on those sites. Note that international sites (eBay.co.uk, and eBay.com.au) were not affected, yet. There are several items to be aware of when using this update:
- eBay only changed the eBay.com and eBayMotors.com sites (which was not mentioned in the original announcement.) Therefore, we expect a similar change on international sites in the next several weeks.
- eBay STILL HAS NOT COMPLETED THE TRANSITION TO THE NEW FORMAT. Some requests made to eBay will return the old format, and some the new format. AuctionIntelligence should currently work with both formats. (But see the next note)
- The performance of AuctionIntelligence will be degraded until eBay finalizes the transition, and we can remove some of the duplicate parsing code that currently allows AuctionIntelligence to handle both eBay formats.
- There may still be some parsing issues - we'd ask that you be vigilent in your use of AI for the next week or two and immediately report any problems.
Thanks for your patience while eBay makes these changes and we adapt!

eBay Item Details Update
date: 02 Mar 2006 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
eBay has announced that in the next few weeks they are updating the HTML structure of the Item Page in order to improve usability for eBay buyers. This will affect AuctionIntelligence's ability to download and correctly parse auction information. OWe will monitor the situation over the next couple weeks to see when the change is made, and we will be evaluating the effect of these changes and will release an update as sonn as possilbe if any changes are required. Please note that there may be downtime of 2-3 days in order to make sure that the update works correctly, and thank you for your patience. You can read eBay's announcement of this change on their announcement board.

Optional Application Update
date: 08 Jan 2006 | version: 1.6.2199
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
With the new year come's a new version of AuctionIntelligence. As usual, bugs reported by users have been fixed in this release, and several new features have been added. The most notable feature in this new release is the addition of an Addin infrastructure for AuctionIntelligence. This allows us to add functionality to AuctionIntelligence that only specific users want (and pay for). We've also added two new addins that everyone should check out:- Download Category Names - with this addin, AuctionIntelligence will download and associate category names instead of showing category numbers in the reports that contain category information. This can make reading those reports a bit easier, since you no longer need to memorize category numbers.
- Download Auction Images - with this addin, AuctionIntelligence gains the ability to download images associated with each auction that meets your search criteria, and store those images on your hard drive.
More information on each of these addins, as well as the ability to subscribe to them is available on the new AuctionIntelligence Addins page of our web site.
This update includes the following:
-
User Request: Add the ability for AI to download auction images
-
Bug Fix: Seller searches are incorrectly returning items from all ebay sites
-
Bug Fix: Frequent Sellers report shows incorrect value for seller % positive feedback rating - 10000% instead of 100%
-
Bug Fix: Entering a ' or " in the username/password for creating a database can cause AI to crash
-
User Request: Add command line switch to close AI after running a search from the commandline
-
User Request: Add a registry key to disabe checking for config file updates
-
Bug Fix: After performing many operations like backup, restore, import/export searches, the AI working directory get's messed up
-
New Feature: Need to update string for new version available to reference the Yes/No buttons to automatically start the download for users.
-
New Feature: Add table of category's and numbers to AI
-
New Feature: Add the abilit for AuctionIntelligence to download images contained within auctions
-
Bug Fix: High price in Hot Items report shows 4 decimal places, should only show 2, since it's a currency

AuctionIntelligence Price Increase Coming in 2006 (for NEW subscribers only)
date: 27 Nov 2005 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
Since AuctionIntelligence was released a couple of years ago, the price for the service has remained constant, even as new features were added. Starting in January 2006, we will be changing the monthly subscription price for any new AuctionIntelligence subscriptions to $14.99 USD/month. Existing subscribers will continue to be charged the current rate of $9.99/month. New subscriptions created before we implement the increase in January will also be at the $9.99/month level, so if you are thinking about getting a subscription but haven't done so, you might want to do it during December. We hope that this subscription increase will allow us to continue to improve on AuctionIntelligence and make it one of the best auction analysis tools out there. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us using our contact form.

Automatic Parsing Update
date: 11 Nov 2005 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.

Looks like there was a bug in the way AuctionIntelligence parsed the number of bids for some Multiple-Quantity Fixed Price Items. This has been updated, and AuctionIntelligence should parse this value correctly now. If you would like AuctionIntelligence to re-download and parse items that it already downloaded and stored in your database, delete those items from the 'Cleanup Results' tab, and AuctionIntelligence will re-analyze them again the next time you run your search.

-
User Request: Add a context menu to delete and rename searches in the search list
-
User Request: Add 'Close All' option to File menu and 'Close' and 'Close All' to Window menu
-
Feature: Need to add a way to reduce the size of the database log file to AuctionIntelligence
-
Bug Fix: Deleting a search, and choosing to delete the data will always delete the data, instead of checking if that data is used by another search

Automatic Parsing Update
date: 14 Sep 2005 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
eBay changed the HTML on eBay.com.au today, so that item titles, subtitles, end dates (and more) were not parsed correctly. This parsing update should remedy that issue.
Please note that after you restart AuctionIntelligence to apply this change, you will also need to reset any of the searches that you run while AuctionIntelligence was not able to parse results correctly. To do this, Ctrl+Click all of the searches in the search list that you have recently run (while the problem existed) and then choose Edit | Clear failed downloads. Then, the next time you run the searches, all of the items should be retrieved correctly. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Required Application Update
date: 02 Aug 2005 | version: 1.5.2040
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
As mentioned earlier today, eBay recently made a change to the way search results are delivered for Category searches, and a change to the way login information is stored by the Web browser. These two changes in conjunction broke AuctionIntelligence's ability to perform category searches (it would always return 0 results). This update should fix that problem, as well as address several other user requests and a few bug fixes as noted below. Please note that due to some of the configuration changes that were necessary in this version, it is a required update for all AuctionIntelligence users.
This update includes the following:
-
Bug Fix: Searches no longer retrieve results for category searches
-
User Request: Search sellers using new, common search UI instead of old seller search UI - speed, plus support 200,000 items
-
Bug Fix: AI should include the "Bid and Price Trend" for 1-day auction
-
Bug Fix: Add FeaturedPlus! and Home Page Featured to the Premium Features report
-
User Request: Frequent Sellers: Can you add a field to the right of "total sales" named "average gross per day"?
|
 |
- Current users: you can start AuctionIntelligence and choose Help | Download Newest Version of AuctionIntelligence or you can download and install AISetup.exe.
|
| | |

| Before updating AuctionIntelligence, it is strongly advised to backup your existing database using File | Backup and Restore | Backup database. Additionally, if you already have AuctionIntelligence installed, do not install MSDE/SQL Express again, as doing so will overwrite your database. |

- To install this update if you do not already have AuctionIntelligence installed, download and install AISetupMSDE.exe.

Category searches not working
date: 02 Aug 2005 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
We were notified yesterday, and confirmed on our end that category searches are not currently working in AuctionIntelligence. It looks like the reason for this is that eBay changed the way category search results are returned, and also changed the way logins to the eBay site work. We're working on a fix, and hope to have one release very soon to address this issue. Sorry for any inconvenience.

The last update introduced some bugs when updating the database to take advantage of the new features that were added. These bugs did not affect everyone, but for users who were affected, it meant that the database could not be updated, and there was no way to get back to a running state besides creating a new database. This update should solve all of those problems as well as add support for parsing Insurance information from eBay auctions. A big thanks to Francis and Ron for their help in getting this issue sorted out!
This update includes the following:
-
User Request: Add support for insurance
-
Bug Fix: After updating to database schema 1.5.2, database columns are not typed correctly

As we noted below, eBay made a change to their HTML a few days ago that require an update to AuctionIntelligence. With this update, AuctionIntelligence will again work with the supported eBay sites (US, UK, AU, US Motors) to retrieve auction data. Additionally, we took this opportunity to increase the performance of AuctionIntelligence by about 20 - 30% depending on the search. No longer are Auctions and Bid Histories downloaded seperately, which saves about 30% of the bandwidth and download time of previous versions.
Please note that with this version of AuctionIntelligence, we have moved to the Microsoft .NET Framework v1.1, so if you do not have that version installed (previous AuctionIntelligence versions used the 1.0 version of the .NET Framework) then AuctionIntelligence will automatically install it for you.
This version also includes several fixes, or user requests that we have received:
This update includes the following:
-
Bug Fix: AuctionIntelligence always downloads eBay.de config files, even though they are not used
-
Performance: Should retrieve Auction and Bid information at the same time, to save 20-30% perf per search
-
EBAY BREAK: Much auction and bid data not retrieved correctly after Bid History page updated
-
Bug Fix: Crash when number of items to retrieve contains comma
-
Bug Fix: Registration information in About screen should use same text as Registration dialog
-
Bug Fix: Putting a very large number (bigger than Int32) for number of items to retrieve causes crash
-
User Request: The "cleanup results" should show the number of bids per item
-
User Request: Minimize to the system tray (now available in Tools | Options)
-
User request: More reports for motors data (year and mileage now included in reports)
-
Bug Fix: Microsoft .NET Framework can not be installed correctly - error 1155 - dotnetfx.exe not found
|
 |
- Current users: you can start AuctionIntelligence and choose Help | Download Newest Version of AuctionIntelligence or you can download and install AISetup.exe.

Automatic Parsing Update - eBay.com
date: 26 Oct 2004 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.

eBay made some changes to the item page, which affected the shipping amount retrieved by
AuctionIntelligence. This update should address those changes and AuctionIntelligence should correctly parse
the data for shipping again.
In addition, after following the instructions below to apply this update, you may need to delete any searches
that were run when AuctionIntelligence was not correctly parsing items so that those items will be reparsed. You
can delete a search by selecting it from the list, choosing Edit | Delete, and then answering Yes to the delete
confirmation (you must answer yes). Alternatively, if you have lots of data for a search, and only want to delete
any items that appear to have incorrect data (only items on 2004/09/14 should be affected) you can select those
items in the Cleanup Results tab (Shft-click or Ctrl-click to select multiple) and press the Delete key on the
keyboard to delete them. AuctionIntelligence will then attempt to re-download those items again.
Additionally, we ask that if you find any problems with parsing or the data retrieved
by AuctionIntelligence after this update that you
let us know immediately using this form.

When eBay updated the signin page, AuctionIntelligence appeared to function normally, without any update
needed.
However, eBay announced today that they are postponing the change to SSL signin because some Internet

eBay Sign In Update
date: 23 Sep 2004 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
eBay announced today that there will be major updates in the signin process for eBay. It is very likely that this
change will break AuctionIntelligence (which must log in to eBay on your behalf in order to run a search.)
Once eBay makes this change, we will work as quickly as we can to ensure that AuctionIntelligence is
updated to work with the new changes, but this update could take a few days. (Or, AuctionIntelligence may not even
be affected...)
We appreciate your patience if an update is needed. More information from eBay can be found here
http://www2.ebay.com:80/aw/marketing.shtml#2004-09-23115003
and an excerpt is included below:
In the next few days, we will be making several changes to the backend
architecture of Sign-In to accommodate eBay’s growth. Once the changes have been
made, our sign-in process will only support Secure Sign In (SSL).
The actual way that members sign in to eBay will not change. However, as part
of the new architecture which supports only SSL Secure Sign In, some members may
see browser alert pop ups during the sign-in process notifying them when they
enter or leave SSL secure pages on eBay. These are standard Internet Explorer
messages, and they can be turned off by selecting the “In the future, do not
show this warning” check box.

Automatic Parsing Update - eBay.co.uk; eBay.com.au
date: 14 Sep 2004 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
eBay made some changes today to the bid history page which affected many of the values retrieved by
AuctionIntelligence. This update should address those changes and AuctionIntelligence should correctly parse
the data for auctions again. Please note, this is the same change that happened to the US site on 25 Aug 2004 which
was announced below.
|
 |
- Current users: Please restart AuctionIntelligence. This update will automatically be downloaded the next time AuctionIntelligence attempts a search after being restarted.
- To install this update if you do not already have AuctionIntelligence installed, download and install AISetupMSDE.exe.
For more installation information, please see the README file included in the above self-extracting EXE files.

Required Application Update
date: 25 Aug 2004 | version: 1.5.1697
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
As everyone is aware, and as we noted below, eBay recently updated their web site and changed a lot
of the information available on the Bid History page of an auction. With this release of AuctionIntelligence, this new
eBay HTML is supported. While we have done our best to ensure compatability with searches, this version was a rushed
release and may still contain bugs. We ask that if you find any problems with parsing or the data retrieved
by AuctionIntelligence that you
let us know immediately using this form.
This update includes the following:
-
FIXED: EBAY BREAK: Much auction and bid data not retrieved correctly after Bid History page updated
|
 |
|
| | |

|
For more installation information, please see the README file included in the above self-extracting EXE files.

eBay Bid History Page Changes
date: 23 Aug 2004 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
eBay announced today that they are making updates to the Bid History page. These changes were rolled out very quickly
to the eBay.com and eBayMotors.com sites, and AuctionIntelligence will not currently work correctly with these sites.
This was a pretty major change, so we're working as hard as we can to get AuctionIntelligence back up and running, but it could
be a few days before we can get a new version tested and released. Please be assurred that we are working hard
to ensure that AuctionIntelligence is updated as quickly as possible to work with the new changes.
We appreciate your patience during this time. More information from eBay can be found here
http://www2.ebay.com/aw/marketing.shtml#2004-08-23144342
and an excerpt is included below:
To increase the transparency of the marketplace and to provide members with more
information, we will be introducing several enhancements to the Bid History page
(links to Bid History can be found on any item page) over the next few days. The
key changes are listed below:
- To reflect that this page also applies to non-auction listings such as
multi-item Fixed Price listings, the name will be changed to Buyer History for
Fixed Price listings.
- When a member places a bid on an item, their bid amount will be displayed on
the Bid History page. If a bid is retracted, information about the retraction
will be shown underneath the current bids on the Bid History page.
- The current high bidder’s bid information will be highlighted in yellow to
make it easier to see.
- When you are signed in and looking at the Bid History for an item you have
bid on, you will see your maximum bid amount near the top of the page, and your
ID will be listed in bold for any other previous bids.
- You will now be able to add items to your Watch list directly from the Bid
History page.

Optional Application Update
date: 15 Aug 2004 | version: 1.4.1688
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
We goofed. Our previous update caused a major regression on the Cleanup Results tab - clicking on the View Item
button would always bring up a dialog telling users to set their default browser. This update fixes that problem,
and now the warning is only shown when necessary. Thanks to govtechmdia for pointing this out in our forums today.
This update includes the following:
- FIX: Clicking on the View Item button in Cleanup Results prompts to set a default browser
|
 |
|
| | |

Additionally, if you already have AuctionIntelligence installed, do not install MSDE/SQL Express again, as doing so will overwrite your database. |

date: 03 Aug 2004 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
As happened with the US site last month, eBay is in the process of making changes to the View Item page on

Please note:The changes that eBay is making may not be complete, so if you experience
any problems in the next couple days, please let us know ASAP using the Email contact form in the support area

eBay Item Page Changes
date: 12 Jul 2004 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
eBay announced today that there will be updates made this week to the View Item page. As with any change to the eBay
structure, this one could affect the ability of AuctionIntelligence to download items correctly. Once eBay makes this
change, we will work to ensure that AuctionIntelligence is updated as quickly as possible to work with the new changes.
We appreciate your patience if an update is needed. More information from eBay can be found here
http://www2.ebay.com:80/aw/marketing.shtml#2004-07-12105643
and an excerpt is included below:
This week, we will be changing the way the item description area of the view
item page displays. This change will improve the view item page performance for
members. Because the item description content will be now be cached by browsers,
buyers and sellers will see noticeable speed improvements when they view the
same item more than once, or when they refresh a view item page. This is
especially important during the last few minutes of a listing, or when members
are on slow dialup connections.

Automatic Parsing Update
date: 13 May 2004 | version: All

Yesterday eBay changed the way that quantity and bid counts were displayed, so AuctionIntelligence had trouble parsing the quantity of items available - often incorrectly parsing the number of bids as the quantity available. We've updated the configuration files so that this is no longer happening. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Help now contains hyperlinks for signing up for AuctionIntelligence instead of just instructions
-

-
......you can now see sell-through of dutch auctions
-
......you can now see summary information broken out by listing type (Auction, Dutch Auction, Fixed Price, Multiple Quantity Fixed Price)

......you can now see sell-through of BIN items
-
......some of the calculations have been changed to be slightly more correct according to eBay's definitions
-
User request: We've added text to the authentication failed dialog when a users subscription has expired that tells the user how to re-register

AuctionIntelligence support forums have moved
date: 14 Feb 2004 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
We're pleased to announce that we've moved the AuctionIntelligence Forum to our own site, rather than having it hosted by My Ikonboard. Ikonboard has done a great job for us the last couple years, but as we've gotten more users, and as ikonboard has gotten more users, the board has gotten slower and slower. Also, by moving the boards to our servers, we can also have more control over the content, ensuring that users have the best possible experience.
Starting today, please change any bookmarks/favorites you have pointing to the old board and link to this location: http://www.certes.net/forum.
Also, we'd like to know how your experience with the new forums works out - better than the old forums? (we think so :-) )
Thanks,
AuctionIntelligence Team

Required Application Update
date: 21 Dec 2003 | version: 1.4.1450
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
As everyone is aware, and as we noted below, eBay recently updated their web site to require users to log
in prior to performing completed auction searches on the site. With this release of AuctionIntelligence, this new
functionality of eBay is supported - AuctionIntelligence will now prompt you to log in to eBay prior to performing
the first search. Several other features and enhancements have also been added to this version of AuctionIntelligence
and they are outlined below.
This update includes the following:
-
Sign-in to eBay is now supported, and users will be prompted to sign in prior to performing a search. Searches that have been broken since eBay implemented this change should work again
-
Now supports the new eBay subtitle feature
-
Now supports the Shipping Amount specified by sellers
-
Now determines if sellers "Prefer PayPal" for auction payment
-
Now records not only the seller's feedback, but also the "% Positive" feedback
-
Now records if an item was listed with a picture
-
The above new fields are supported in the many AuctionIntelligence reports - nearly all reports have been updated, check out individual reports for changes
-
Sell-through rate is much more prominent in reports, as it is a key metric for sellers
-
Hyperlink from web site to Tucows is not longer broken
-
Summary report performance increased dramatically (15x) - from minutes to seconds with a large database
-
Script error in setup fixed
-
Individual category links in Category report work again after eBay change
-
...many other minor changes and fixes...

|

eBay requiring sign in for Completed Items Search
date: 11 Dec 2003 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
In the next few days, eBay members will be required to sign in to eBay before viewing the results of a Completed Items search. Completed Items data can be valuable information that is generated by the eBay Community, so it will be available only to registered members of the eBay Community. This change will take place on the U.S. site in the next few days, and on international eBay sites early next year.
If you are already signed in to eBay on your computer, you won't notice any difference when you view Completed Items. If you haven't signed in, you will be prompted to do so, and then your Completed Items search results will be presented as usual. Non-registered members will need to register before being able to view the results of their search.
For eBay's announcement, see http://www2.ebay.com/aw/marketing.shtml
We are not yet sure the effect that this will have on AuctionIntelligence, so please bear with us for the next few days. If you are already signed in to eBay on your computer, you may notice no change. However, if you are not signed in, you may need to sign in before any searches will work.
We will update this page once eBay has made their change, and will have a fix for AuctionIntelligence as soon as possible.

Automatic Parsing Update

eBay today is experimenting with a new rendering technology for showing the bid
history of auctions. The change is subtle to the user (you'll notice that prices
are prefixed with "US $" instead of just "$" for US auctions) but it causes AuctionIntelligence
to use 100% CPU and not parse bid history correctly. AuctionIntelligence has been updated to address
this problem. Please follow the instructions below to update AuctionIntelligence.

eBay introducing new Item page
date: 02 Jul 2003 | version: All
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
In the next week, eBay will be introducing a new item page that will require an AuctionIntelligence update. eBay will be testing
this new page on July 3, 2003 between midnight and 12:00 noon PST. During this time, AuctionIntelligence will not correctly retrieve
data, and should not be used. Once eBay officially rolls out the new item page, an update to AuctionIntelligence will be made as soon as
possible, likely within 24 - 48 hours. Thank you for your patience.
07 July 2003 | Version: All
eBay today released the new Item Page. We have currently disabled AuctionIntelligence from downloading data (which would be wrong anyway)
and are working to enable AuctionIntelligence to retrieve data from the new page. We expect to have an updated installer in 24-48 hours.
Thanks for your patience.
For more information on eBay's new item page, please see eBay's announcement. Search for 'New Item Page'.

This update to AuctionIntelligence fixes a problem with AuctionIntelligence when trying to create
searches based on a Seller ID. Due to a recent eBay change, these types of searches no longer worked
with AuctionIntelligence (and are no longer supported on eBay.)

Title or based on a Seller ID.
This update also includes several other minor fixes, including the recently added Getting Started Wizard

Required Application Update
date: 24 Apr 2003 | version: 1.2
Note: This update is obsolete.
|
|
eBay recently changed the HTML for auction pages in such a way that in some cases, AuctionIntelligence will use 100% CPU and will not correctly retrieve the Seller Rating for auction items. A fix was released that required users to perform a manual process in order to update a configuration file on their system.
The AuctionIntelligence team felt that this was an unacceptable way to deliver simple updates such as this to users, so this new version of AuctionIntelligence automates this update process. In the future, all updates of this sort will be handled automatically and seemlessly by AuctionIntelligence, and will not require a download or update on the part of end users.
|
 |
|
